Staff Sgt. Keith Kile

Principal Tuba

Staff Sergeant Keith Kile, originally from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, joined the West Point Band in 2015 and was appointed principal tuba in 2018. In addition to his duties with the West Point Band, Staff Sgt. Kile is an active freelancer, performing regularly with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Hudson Valley Philharmonic, and Collective Brass Quintet. He is also on faculty at the New School's Mannes Prep. Prior to moving to New York, ​Staff Sgt. Kile performed regularly on both tuba and euphonium with the Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band, the Hal Leonard Studio Ensemble, and numerous regional orchestras in the Midwest and Southeast, and served in the 129th Army National Guard Band for eleven years. As a successful soloist, Staff Sgt. Kile was won the prestigious Jacobs School of Music Concerto Competition and is now a regular performer at conferences around the United States. Staff Sgt. Kile holds a Bachelor of Music in music education from Tennessee Tech University, a Master of Music and Performer Diploma from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
