Celebrating 200 Years

Under the baton of the band’s Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tod Addison, the West Point Band celebrated 200 years of service with its Bicentennial Concert in David Geffen Hall, at Lincoln Center on October 29, 2017. The program featured Leonard Bernstein’s electrifying Profanation, John Mackey’s haunting work, Sheltering Sky, as well as world premiere works by Pulitzer Prize nominee Ira Hearshen, and Hollywood composer Tim Simonec. The West Point Glee Club, let by its director Constance Chase, joined the band in performing stirring arrangements of traditional songs deeply embedded in West Point culture, as well as a tribute to the fallen soldier with Randall Wallace’s Mansions of the Lord.
