Sgt. Maj. Denver Dill


Sgt. Maj. Denver Dill joined the West Point Band in 2004 while serving as a doctoral teaching assistant at the Eastman School of Music. He holds a master’s degree from the Juilliard School and an undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University. As a trumpet player, Sgt. Maj. Dill has appeared as both a soloist and a principal trumpet player with the New York Philharmonic and has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Brass.

Sgt. Maj. Dill serves West Point and the Army band program as the Army Music Analytics Team Leader using Lean Six Sigma, advanced analytics, mathematical game theory, and other relevant business strategies to provide a common operating picture for decision making. This includes collaborative partnerships and teaching within multiple West Point academic departments including the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Department of Systems Engineering, Department of English and Philosophy as well as the Army Cyber Institute. In 2017 he helped establish the West Point Music Research Center (WPMRC) with the vision of understanding and communicating the effects of music through multi-disciplinary research and analysis. The WPMRC seeks to provide innovative solutions and discoveries through international collaborations with leading academic departments, research centers, and industry.

Sgt. Maj. Dill has been a guest speaker/presenter for a variety of conferences and institutions such as the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, International Trumpet Guild and the Army Cyber Institute’s CyCON US.
