Main duties will include rehearsals and performances with The Benny Havens Band, a 10-piece Top 40/popular music ensemble. Additional performance settings include acoustic small group, jazz quartet, large pops ensemble, and ceremonial support as needed. Applicants must demonstrate strong, versatile abilities in the styles listed above, and must be able to sight read.
Additional inclusion of other marketable musical or non-musical skills should be reflected on the applicant's resume. Examples of other skills include arts administration experience, recording engineering experience, graphic design, or any other skills that may be valuable in a large, self-produced performing ensemble.
The Benny Havens Band is a leading popular music ensemble in the armed forces, primarily serving the United States Corps of Cadets at West Point. The band represents the U.S. Army to millions in live and broadcast audiences yearly through the New York City media market, having appeared on NBC’s “TheToday Show,” FOX News’ “Fox and Friends,” and the Macy’s Fourth of July Spectacular on NBC. The BHB performs at events hosted by the United Nations, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the 9/11 Memorial Foundation, and regularly supports major New York sports franchises including the New York Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, and Knicks. In 2017, the BHB celebrated the release of their country album “The Songs that Save Our Lives” on Agnes Records, recorded at Soundstage in Nashville, Tennessee, featuring new songs by Nashville’s top songwriters.
