Staff Sergeant Kristina Teuschler joined the West Point Band in June of 2019. Before her arrival, she was an active freelance clarinet player in New York City. She has performed with a variety of groups including New World Symphony, Binghamton Philharmonic, Glens Falls Symphony, Ensemble Contemporaneous, Harlem Chamber Players, Harlem Symphony Orchestra, The Dream Unfinished Orchestra, and Bang on a Can.
In addition to performing, Staff Sgt. Teuschler has worked to expand music’s reach and impact in a variety of settings. She served as the Community Liaison Fellow for Orchestra of St. Luke’s, helping the orchestra become more accessible by producing their education and community concerts, forming community partnerships, and deepening their action plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2016 and 2017, she helped produce and direct Madison New Music Festival in her hometown of Madison, Wisconsin. MNMF presents new works by some of the world's leading living composers, and shines spotlight on new music created in Wisconsin with the Madison community in free or low-cost concerts.
An experienced educator, Staff Sgt. Teuschler has worked with several youth music programs including the Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project, Manhattan School of Music’s Outreach Program, The Harmony Program, Youth Orchestra of St. Luke's, and Kaufman Music Center’s Face the Music.
Staff Sgt. Teuschler received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music. Her primary teachers include Mark Nuccio, Steven Cohen, and J. Lawrie Bloom.
