Staff Sergeant Kristina Teuschler joined the West Point Band in 2018. In addition to her duties with the band, she has performed with premiere ensembles including Orchestra of St. Luke’s, International Contemporary Ensemble, and the Bang on a Can All-Stars. She has workshopped and premiered new musicals and operas, and frequently records and performs with independent artists and bands. She maintains her own electronic music project which playfully combines songwriting, improvisation, DJ production, and orchestral excerpts. Staff Sgt. Teuschler co-directs the Madison New Music Festival, supporting contemporary music in her home state of Wisconsin. The festival encourages engagement with local issues and fostering collaboration within its community. Prior to joining the band, she was the first community liaison for Orchestra of St. Luke’s, where she helped the orchestra develop education and community programs and form new partnerships. She has conducted workshops for students at University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Illinois Music Educators Association, and Clarinet Maestro Festival. Staff Sgt. Teuschler’s primary teachers were Mark Nuccio, Steven Cohen, and J. Lawrie Bloom.
