Staff Sergeant Katrina Owens joined the West Point Band in 2014. She is the principal flute of the Concert Band. She earned music performance degrees from the University of North Texas and George Mason University. Before joining the Army, she performed in the Dallas area with the Madera Wind Quintet and the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, and worked with Eugene Corporon and the North Texas Wind Symphony on numerous recording projects. She has also played with the Ohio Light Opera and the Franco-American Vocal Academy Orchestra in Perigueux, France. In addition to her duties with the band, Staff Sgt. Owens regularly performs with the Hudson Opera Theatre and is an original member of Vent Nouveau, a Hudson Valley wind chamber ensemble. In her spare time, Staff Sgt. Owens enjoys gardening and hiking with her husband, Bill, and their sons, Alec and Evan.
