Staff Sergeant Garrett Brown joined the West Point Band in 2023. He earned a Bachelor of Music in music education at Shenandoah Conservatory and a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in bassoon performance at SUNY Stony Brook. Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, he is a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School. Prior to joining the band, he served with the USAF Band of Mid-America, stationed outside of St. Louis, Missouri, for two years. He regularly performs with the Berks Sinfonietta. His primary teachers and mentors include Ryan Romine, Frank Morelli and Felicia Foland. When he's not practicing or making reeds, he enjoys Crossfit and trying new coffee shops.
