Staff Sergeant Bryan Ponton joined the West Point Band in 2015. He grew up in Frederick, Maryland in a musical family and developed an interest in music at an early age. He attended Berklee College of Music and William Paterson University, having the opportunity to study under jazz greats such as Harold Mabern and Mulgrew Miller. Staff Sgt. Ponton joined the Army shortly after graduating, first with the Army Ground Forces Band at Fort Bragg, before earning a position in the West Point Band. Aside from working within the band Staff Sgt. Ponton is an in-demand musician in the New York music scene as a leader and sideman.
