Master Sergeant Anna Pennington joined the West Point Band in 2011. Prior to that, she was the assistant professor of oboe at the University of Southern Mississippi School of Music. She has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Jacksonville Symphony, the Florida Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony, and the Sarasota Orchestra, among others. Festival appearances include the New Texas Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Victoria Bach Festival, and Salzburger Festspiele. She is an avid performer of chamber music and was a former member of the Planets, a classical fusion ensemble signed with EMI Classics in the United Kingdom. She has also given recitals and masterclasses throughout the United States, and in South America, Europe, and Asia. She has appeared as soloist on several occasions with the band. Passionate about new music, she has been involved in various recording projects and commissioning consortia. A Texas native, she earned a Doctor of Music from Florida State University, a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas. Her teachers included Eric Ohlsson, Joseph Robinson, John Snow, and Beth Sanders.
