Sgt. 1st Class Andrew Garcia

Principal Trumpet
Hometown: Hamilton, ON, Canada
Joined the Band: 2011
Education: Manhattan School of Music (BM, MM)

Sergeant First Class Andrew Garcia joined the West Point Band in 2011. He is the Principal Trumpet of the Concert Band. His earliest musical training came from Salvation Army Bands, where he developed a love of ensemble playing and a particular passion for bands. After studying orchestral performance at the collegiate level, the West Point Band provided him the opportunity to return to doing what he loves best. In addition to trumpet performance, Sgt. 1st Class Garcia dabbles in composing, arranging, conducting, and educating, through which he has been featured in several musical publications, conducted various regional ensembles, and founded a neighborhood music school in New York City. He remains involved in these activities within the West Point community, both for the band and for the Corps of Cadets. Sgt. 1st Class Garcia lives in the Hudson Valley with his wife and two children and is a decent home cook, a terrible gardener, and an even worse tennis player
